Bridgnorth

Bridgnorth bridge

Situated in Shropshire, Bridgnorth is a historic market town with a rich history dating back to the late 9th Century. The first records of habitation appear in 895AD, when Æthelflæd, daughter of King Alfred the Great, constructed a defensive mound to help keep back Danish invaders. A castle was constructed during the 12th Century which was assaulted many times over the following centuries. It was eventually destroyed by parliamentary forces in 1646.

From its high vantage points, Bridgnorth boasts fantastic views across Shropshire - Prince Charles once commented that the views of the surrounding countryside were "the finest in my domain". Bridgnorth is also home to many 17th Century buildings, including a Grade #1 listed timberframed building, the iconic half-timberframed town hall and two impressive 13th Century churches - St Leonard's and St Mary's.
